Pramerica's European merchant banking group focuses on investing in equity and other securities in companies and joint ventures operating in the real estate sector, providing start-up or growth capital over the medium term. The merchant banking team works closely alongside the local management team to achieve higher returns from underlying real estate assets.
Pramerica Real Estate Investors Limited was formed in July 1999 to extend Pramerica's European activities into real estate related private equity operations. In 2003 the operations were merged with similar operations in the US to form the Global Merchant Banking group, headed by Robert Falzon.
Pramerica's European merchant banking group has initiated and managed investments in the UK office sector (Arlington Securities and Hemingway Properties), the UK self-storage sector (Big Yellow), the Spanish self-storage sector (Blue Space), Senior Housing in the UK and Germany (Sunrise Senior Living), German residential (DeWAG), German development (Bauwert), Swiss development (A&A), Swedish Residential (Aros), Belgian office and French retail (Banimmo) and French office and industrial (Bleecker/Fulton).
Pramerica’s merchant banking funds invest on behalf of clients in equity, and equity- related capital financing, to private and public companies and to property and real estate related companies and joint ventures. Pramerica has extensive knowledge, experience and resources for considering investments in a wide variety of asset classes and geographic regions. Pramerica complements the management teams of investee companies in their pursuit to expand, consolidate industries, enhance technology, access finance markets in the most efficient manner, and build and maintain top personnel and deliver investment returns.
